Ongoing projects

The PIS information system is critical to the operation of the power plant. The system operates continuously (24/7), but is technologically outdated.

• The upgrade will retain all key functions while introducing modern technical solutions.
• The project will be carried out in phases: from August 2025, in RE25, OL35, and RE27.
• The new systems will operate in parallel with the old ones until RE27.
• The new system will retain all the functionalities of the old one and bring improvements and optimizations.

Measurements of all low-voltage electrical installations in accordance with applicable regulations for testing low-voltage electrical installations in demanding facilities (protection against electric shock, protection against lightning). 

Manufacture of electrical cabinets:

• installation of connection, protection and measurement equipment
• resistant to external influences, containing quality components
• layout and ductwork, wiring and component marking
• testing and certification in accordance with the norms.

The existing NPP Krško lightning protection system was not sufficient to protect against lightning up to 400 kA.

• Improvement of the arrester system: more parallel current paths, shorter arrester lengths and equipotential bonding.
• Protection of outdoor lighting: surge protection in power supply boxes and luminaires.
• Upgrade of the FP system: DC/DC converters, surge protection and protective terminals against lightning damage 
• Replacement of 18 Rosemount transmitters (without transient protection) with protected versions.
• Objective: increased safety against direct lightning strikes and transients.
